  • A journey through History at the encounter of ancient Peruvian cultures

    During your trip back in the old Northern reigns you will travel through as many landscapes as cultures and centuries. You will pass by the 3 main geographical regions of Peru, Coast, Andes and Forest. On your way, you will discover the insider mysterious treasures of the North passing from the White and Black Cordillera of Andean high mountains. Heading up to the North, a Historical journey which is waiting for you.

    You will discover important archaeological sites such as Chimu city, Chan chan city in Trujillo, or Tucume pyramids in Chiclayo. We will then drive towards Kuelap, eternal and mysterious city of the North. In an “out of time” atmosphere, above clouds, you will explore its fortress and learn about Chachapoyas culture. Finally we will be in harmony with wild nature, surrounded by lagoons and waterfalls in the forest of Tarapoto region.
    You will also have the opportunity to meet local communities with whom you will share traditions and participate to their daily activities and workshops.

  •  DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN LIMA 

    Arrival in Lima. Reception at the airport by our correspondent. Transfer to your hotel in the city centre.

     DAY 2 – LIMA – HUARAZ

    After the breakfast, you will visit the modern Lima areas like Miraflores, Larcomar and Barranco.

    Then the visit goes on with the colonial part of Lima, through San Martin Square, the Government Palace, the « plaza de armas », the great Cathedral of Lima and the Catacombs of San Francisco.

    In the afternoon, we will go to Huaraz, down the Cordillera Blanca. Night in the hotel.

     DAY 3 – CHAVIN DE HUANTAR

    Excursion at Chavín de Huantar where you will find pre-Columbian first civilizations rests dating back from more than 3000 years, such as el Lanzon de Chavin or the “cabezas claves”.

    On your way back to Huaraz, we will stop at Querococha lagoon located at 3800m. and pass through typical «Callejón de Conchucos » landscapes.

    After the visit, we will come back to Huaraz, free time.

     DAY 4 – LLANGANUCO LAGOONS – TRUJILLO

    Excursion in Huascarán National Park, we will pass by the Callejon de Huaylas and visit different small villages such as Carhuaz or Yungay. We will then go towards Llanganuco turquoise lagoon and ascend by private car to “Portachuelo” summit from where we will enjoy a stunning panoramic view on snowy Cordillera Blanca peaks.

    Optional activity: Hiking on Maria pathway, a track created by both Huascarán and Huandoy mountains.

    In the afternoon, we will go back to Huaraz and visit Yungay territory destroyed after the 1970 earthquake and floodings.

    On the evening, journey by bus to Trujillo (10h). Night in hotel.

     DAY 5 – TRUJILLO

    After breakfast, you will visit the “Huaca Arco Iris”, one of the best preserved temples of the Chimú civilization as well as “Huacas del Sol” and “Luna” temples which were built during the Moche civilization.

    Then you will visit Chan Chan, the largest pre-inca clay city in America. Finally, have a walk in Huanchaco bay before coming back to the hotel.

     DAY 6 – TRUJILLO – CHICLAYO

    After breakfast, we will visit the archaeological complex of “El Brujo” and the museum of Lady Cao, who was the first lady governess of the Mochica culture.

    After the visit, we will take the bus towards Chiclayo (3h). Arrival at the hotel and free time

     DAY 7 – CHICLAYO

    In the morning visit of Chiclayo’s market and the area known as the witches market, where you can find all kinds of herbs and plants used by shamans.

    Then, you will visit the Huaca Rajada and the Museum “Tumbas Reales de Sipan” where you will discover the treasures of the Lord of Sipan who was an important Moche governor. In the afternoon you will visit Túcume ruins. Return to the hotel for the night.

     DAY 8 – CHICLAYO

    In the morning, we will visit Chaparri Ecological Reserve which is used in order to investigate flora and fauna recuperation and conservation.

    In the Reserve, we will also explore the “bear” route,”Huachuma” route and “Pavas” route. In the afternoon, return to Chiclayo and night at the hotel.

     DAY 9 – CHICLAYO – CAJAMARCA

    In the morning, we will visit the archaeological Museum of Sican which exposes the history, the activities and traditions of the Sican culture.

    In the afternoon, journey to Cajamarca where you will enjoy stunning landscapes where the time seems to have stopped. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

     DAY 10 – CAJAMARCA

    In the morning, we will visit the “Cumbe mayo”, hydraulic pre Columbian construction surrounded by an epic stones forest of different geometric forms.

    In the afternoon, visit of Cajamarca, its Plaza Mayor, its Cathedral, Belen church, Santa Apolonia mountain from where we will have a panoramic view of the whole city.

     DAY 11 – CAJAMARCA

    Visit of “Grange Porcón”, a rural cooperative in which you will discover and participate to local agricultural tasks in the middle of the forest.

    In the afternoon, visit of “Ventanillas de Otuzco”, a pre Columbian necropolis constructed in rocks’ caves.

    By the end of the afternoon, we will finish our visit by the Inca Baths where it is possible to relax in refreshing thermal waters.

     DAY 12 – CAJAMARCA – LEYMEBAMBA

    Journey in private car to Chachapoyas across Balsas’s valley and Marañon Canyon.

    In our way, we will visit Leymebamba museum and village, presenting the 180 mummies discovered in the “Condors lagoon” cliff. Night in hotel in Leymebamba.

     DAY 13 – LEYMEBAMBA – KUELAP – MARIA VILLAGE

    After breakfast, we will visit Revash mausoleum, before walking to Kuelap’s forteress. Kuelap is a famous archaeological complex of the Chachapoyas culture totally covered by tropical plants, and which construction had needed 3 times more stones than for Kheops pyramids’ construction.

    After a visit, we will go to Pueblo Maria to spend the night over.

     DAY 14 – MARIA VILLAGE – KARAJIA – CHACHAPOYAS

    After the breakfast, we will go to Lamud by private transport. Arrival and visit of its rural museum.

    Then we will head to Cruzpata from where we will start walking almost 1h to visit Karajia archaeological site where sarcophaguses contain each one a mummy. Located on the cliff side of the mountain, these 2.5 meters high mummies are an inaccessible and mysterious Chachapoyas culture treasure.

    Then, we will continue to Chachapoyas. Arrival and transfer to the lodging. Free time. (Basic services).

     DAY 15 – CHACHAPOYAS – COCACHIMBA

    After the breakfast with Chachapoyas, we will leave by car to the village Cocachimba from where we start a walk during 2hours approximately to the cascade of Gocta (771m)
    On the way, you will be able to observe “Andean cock-of-rock” (Rupicola Peruviana) and several orchids.
    With the return, we will visit a family which will show us the procedure of the trituration of sugar cane for the preparation of the “chancaca”, and of the “guarapo” (local drink). Then, housing in the community of Cocachimba. (Night of basic hotel service).

     DAY 16 – COCACHIMBA – TARAPOTO

    We will drive from Cocachimba to Tarapoto by private car in the middle of abundant vegetation. We will stop to Pomacochas splendid lagoon.

    Arrival in the end of the afternoon and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 17 – TARAPOTO

    After the breakfast, excursion to Sauce’s district (2h½) surrounded by a plentiful tropical flora, before reaching the main harbor and crossing Huallaga river.

    Boat ride on the blue lagoon and visit of the “Dos de Mayo” hamlet. Rest and possibility to bath and practice water sports.

    On our way back to Tarapoto, we will visit Paucaryacu medicinal and thermal baths. Arrival in the city and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 18 – TARAPOTO – LIMA

    Excursion at Venecia’s lagoon and Ahuashiyacu waterfalls in the middle of plentiful vegetation with trees, ferns and tropical flora.

    We will then visit Lamas’ village, where an ancestral Amazonian indigenous community is living and with whom you will be able to learn their traditions and their culture.

    In the afternoon, return to the city and transfer to the airport in order to take our flight bound for Lima. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 19 – LIMA / DEPARTURE

    After the breakfast, we will head from Lima to Lurin Valley. We will first stop at the Prehispanic Sanctuary of Pachacamac, one of the most important archaeological sites in Peru.

    We will then go on with the visit of “Casa Blanca” ranch where they produce and study ecological agriculture and agro tourism.

    Finally, we will visit Ichimay Wari craftsmen workshops where you will be able to observe and take part in crafts production such as ceramics, retables and Andean weaves.

    Return to Lima and in the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your international flight connection. End of our services.
