  • Travel along the Pacific Ocean to the Amazon!

    If you want to enjoy the most touristic attractions of the South of Peru and discover the Amazon region in an alternative way, this tour is made for you.

    After visiting Lima, you will head to Ballestas Islands where you will discover a large biodiversity and natural wealth. We will then visit the Oasis of Huacachina in Ica and fly above Nasca lines. Next step will be Arequipa and Colca’s Canyon where you will be in total immersion with nature and you will meet up and share with local communities in one of the deepest canyon in the world.

    We will then go to Puno. You will navigate on Titicaca Lake, discover the local culture and traditions and exchange with the inhabitants. The trip goes on to the Sacred Valley and Cusco, the centre of the Inca Empire where you will climb up to the Machu Picchu. Finally, you will take off to Puerto Maldonado for an ecotourism experience (Region of Madre de Dios), to explore the Amazon fauna and flora, one of the richest territory of biodiversity in the world.

  •  DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN LIMA

    Arrival in Lima. Reception at the airport by our correspondent. Transfer to your hotel in the city centre.

     DAY 2 – LIMA / PARACAS

    After the breakfast, you will visit the modern Lima areas like Miraflores, Larcomar and Barranco.

    Then the visit goes on with the colonial part of Lima, through San Martin Square, the Government Palace, the « plaza de armas », the great Cathedral of Lima and the Catacombs of San Francisco.

    In the afternoon, travel by bus to the city of Paracas (abt. 4h). In the way we will pass through towns like Cañete and Chincha to reach Paracas. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 3 – PARACAS / ILES BALLESTAS/ ICA / NAZCA

    After the breakfast, excursion to the Ballestas Islands by speedboat, where in an amazing landscape you will be able to see the enigmatic “Candelabro” figure and discover a large marine fauna like wolves’ sea, birds, guaneras, Humboldt penguins, etc.

    Afterwards, you will head to Ica and have a short visit of the beautiful oasis of Huacachina.

    Optional Activity: Fascinating excursion in vehicles 4×4 in the desert of Huacachina

    In the late afternoon, let’s go towards Nazca (157km). Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 4 – NAZCA / AREQUIPA

    In the morning, flying over Nazca lines, which are composed of a set of geometric and zoomorphic figures carved on the surface of the desert.
    You will then visit the pre-Inca cemetery Chauchilla (this pre-Hispanic cemetery presents a large variety of different graves)

    In the afternoon, the trip goes on by sleeper bus towards Arequipa (572 km), on the road we will pass through endless deserts, cliffs, beaches and dunes landscapes. We will also pass by important sites like Marcona, Yauca, Chala, Ocoña, Camana valley to arrive in Arequipa. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 5 – AREQUIPA

    After the breakfast, city tour of Arequipa: visit of Yanahuara watchtowers and Rinconada Alta, the « Plaza de Armas », the church of the Compañía and its cloister, the traditional market of San Camilo, the famous convent of Santa Catalina, and the museum Mummy Juanita “Lady of Ampato” or “Lady Ice”.

    Late afternoon, free time.

     DAY 6 – AREQUIPA / CHIVAY / CANOCOTA

    You will go by private vehicle to Colca’s Canyon (165 km). During the trip, you will have the opportunity to observe the beautiful flora and fauna, the Misti volcano, and snowy mountains.

    Subsequently, we will continue escalating the Patapampa at an altitude of 4900 meters from where you will have a view on various volcanoes in the central Andes. Then we will have lunch in the village of Chivay.

    Optional Activity: Enjoy the thermal baths of La Calera in chivay

    After lunch, we will drive to the charming village of Canocota (30min from Chivay). Arrival and accommodation in a family home. Night at the host.

     DAY 7 – COLCA’S CANYON / CRUZ DEL CONDOR / PUNO

    After breakfast, early departure by private vehicle to the Cruz del Condor where you are almost guaranteed to see condors flying over the majestic Andes.

    On the wayback from Cruz de Condor by the south side of the Colca Valley, you will visit the villages of Maca and Yanque.

    In the afternoon, journey by private vehicle to the city of Puno (355km). We will cross the Andean highlands and, along the way, you could admire the fauna specific to the Andes: alpacas, llamas, and small lagoons.

    In the late afternoon arrival in Puno and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 8 – PUNO / UROS ISLANDS / AMANTANI

    Boat trip on Titicaca Lake. Stop at the Uros islands where we will discover the daily life and customs of the people. Here travellers can participate or simply observe the harvest of totoras.

    You will continue on boat towards the enchanting island of Amantani. Arrival and accommodation in a family house.

    In the afternoon, you will climb up to the Pachatata temple to enjoy a view of Peru and Bolivia, along with a beautiful sunset. Overnight homestay at Amantani.

     DAY 9 – AMANTANI / TAQUILE / PUNO

    After breakfast, you will continue your journey by boat to Taquile Island. This island is characterized by the generosity of its people who maintain ancestral customs

    To reach the top of the island, you will take a slightly inclined path (50min) which offers a spectacular view of the lake. We will also visit the main square and observe the impressive works of hand-made weaving with various colours.

    In the afternoon, return to Puno and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 10 – PUNO / CUZCO

    Travel by tourist bus through the Altiplano and the Vilcanota Valley to Cuzco. On the road, we will briefly stop at La Raya Pass (4,300 m), and then you will visit Raqchi Inca temple, the church of Andahuaylillas. All entrance fees mentioned above are optional.

    Arrival in Cusco in the late afternoon and transfer to hotel.

     DAY 11 – CUZCO

    After breakfast, visit of Tambomachay known as Tambo Cave. Visit of the ruins of Kenko carved by Incas. You will discover Puka Pukará ruins and finally you will visit the Sacsayhuaman fortress with its impressive Inca constructions.

    Then we will discover Cusco with its Plaza de Armas, one of the most beautiful in Latin America; the beautiful Cathedral, the magnificent temple of Koricancha considered as the most sacred and most impressive built by the Incas.

    In the late afternoon free time.

     DAY 12 – CUZCO / PISAC / OLLANTAYTAMBO / AGUAS CALIENTES

    In the morning, you will visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the road, we will stop at a small exhibition centre Awanakancha which gives a great panorama of the beauty of the Peruvian Andes

    Right after, we will continue with the charming village of Pisac and its ruins. After lunch, we will go on with the visit of the fortress of Ollantaytambo, impressive Inca building which used to be a strategic military, religious and agricultural centre.

    Finally, in the afternoon we will take the train to Aguas Calientes, down Machu Picchu. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

     DAY 13 – AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHU PICCHU / OLLANTAYTAMBO

    Early in the morning, you will head up to the Machu Picchu. Discover the most famous landmark of the Incas, with its terraced fields, the artificial canal system for irrigation, palaces, squares, temples, caves, attics, etc. prisons.

    Following the tour you will have free time to walk around the citadel, the sun temple and the hill Intihuatana.
    Optional Activity: Possibility to climb Huayna Picchu by a small stone path.

    In the course of the afternoon, transfer to the station for the train back to Ollantaytambo. Arrival and transfer to hotel.

     DAY 14 – OLLANTAYTAMBO / MARAS / CHINCHERO / CUZCO

    After breakfast, we will visit the Salinas de Maras where its inhabitants realize the whole process of extracting natural salt.

    You will discover the circular terraces of Moray, which is an experimental complex of the Incas, and finally visit the Inca site of Chinchero.

    In the afternoon arrival in the city of Cusco and transfer to hotel, free time.

     DAY 15 – CUZCO / PUERTO MALDONADO / TAMBOPATA

    Flight Cusco – Puerto Maldonado. Rainforest Expeditions’ home guide will welcome you in Puerto Maldonado.
    Then you will take a boat to reach Tambopata and will settle in your selected lodge.

     DAY 16 – EXTENSION TAMBOPATA

    Activities according to your selected lodge. (Ask for options available)
    Ecotourism, birds and parrots watching, walking along Tambopata River, ethno botanic farms and gardens visits, biodiversity discovery, sharing with local communities…

     DAY 17 – EXTENSION TAMBOPATA

     DAY 18 – TAMBOPATA / PUERTO MALDONADO / LIMA

    Transfer to airport and flight to Lima. Then according to the time left we will continue with the visit of Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology..
    In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your international flight connection.
